Mr. Hanley is a former prosecutor who focuses his practice on professional discipline, white collar defense and government investigations, gaming, criminal and civil trial work, and strategic counsel to professionals, businesses, government agencies, and organized labor. Mr. Hanley teaches a seminar on professional ethics at Boston University School of Law. In 2025, he was appointed by Massahusetts Governor Maura Healey to serve as a Commissioner on the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission. He has testified as an expert witness on the prosecutor's obligation to seek out and produce exculpatory information and evidence under Massachusetts and federal law and under Massachusetts Rules of Professional Conduct 3.8(d).
